The 1000 Guineas is now upon us at Newmarket and we have seen some excellent performances in a couple of trial races. The likes of Barefoot Lady and Memory have run well and arrive at Newmarket well backed, there are several other contenders in the latest betting who will fancy their chances in what could be a classic 1000 Guineas. We are now fast approaching the race and the 1000 Guineas Runners are starting to be finalised for Newmarket. The Festival runs over two days on Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st this this year with the meeting signalling the start of a potentially classic season. There will be six supporting races on each of the two days but the main focus of course will be the Guineas. The favourite for the race is the exciting Moonlight Cloud who won recently on her seasonal debut for trainer Freddy Head, her 1000 Guineas Odds were shortened after her win at Maisons-Laffitte, there has been much controversy regarding her rider Davy Bonilla who has only ridden nine times in the UK over the last five seasons.
Jessica Harrington will be taking Laughing Lashes to Newmarket on Saturday and she and connections are bullish about her chances of running well on the Rowley Mile. The horse had a good win over Misty For Me last season and in what looks like an open 1000 Guineas she could be a real threat according to the latest betting.
