It had appeared that Jamie Spencer had grabbed the initiative as his mount ran into the final furlong a length ahead on board Charles Hills' raider Just The Judge, but Hughes produced the Moyglare Stud Stakes winner with aplomb in the final furlong to land the spoils at 9/1, with Hills' raider finishing second and Aidan O'Brien's Moth completing the placings.
